Training ASHA Workers – The Game Changer for Safe Motherhood

The most crucial step to reduce maternal and neonatal deaths is ensuring that every pregnant woman reaches a health facility for institutional delivery. Today, seven Indian states have achieved 100% institutional deliveries, and several others have reached 98–99%. However, North Bharat still lags behind, and this is where our collective focus is needed urgently

ASHA workers are the backbone of safe motherhood programs. They are the first contact, trust bridge, and lifeline for pregnant women in villages. Their training in identifying high-risk pregnancies, ensuring early registration, promoting antenatal visits, and timely referral for delivery in institutions can save countless mothers and newborns.
Through Mission NEEeV, TOT-3 aims to empower ASHAs with the knowledge, communication skills, and motivation to bring every mother to a health facility in time. When ASHA didis are trained, trusted, and supported, no woman will deliver at home in risk.
Together, we can make “Every Delivery — A Safe Delivery” and move one giant step closer to Zero Preventable Maternal Mortality in Bharat.
